I thought the future would be cooler

Some time ago, an article by the German newspaper Die Zeit explained the dramatic changes and challenges our planet and we as human beings will be facing if we don't start to fight climate change properly and instead just carry on as we do now.

Life would change drastically for everyone on Earth and the landscapes would be reshaped quite heavily, forcing millions of people to leave their homes and take refuge in environments where surviving would still be possible.

The authors illustrated their almost dystopian vision of our future in a map of our whole planet, which immediately brought certain images to my head, like a vast desert where once France's capital was located, or the city that never sleeps going underwater like a Modern Age Atlantis.

I hope having visualized what may be in front of us might help to understand the enormous and life-changing impact that we as a species have on our climate - and the changed climate will have on us, ultimately. But also to understand that everybody can take action to prevent our planet from further destruction, even if the bigger picture seems overwhelming and frustrating, every single person can make small changes in their everyday life that will help to save human life on Earth.
